Brown

Today we are investigating the color brown! Lots and lots of things are brown. We were all wearing at least some brown and that was very fun to see! We saw that many things in our houses are made of wood and wood is brown. Many animals are brown, like squirrels, birds, chipmunks, monkeys, horses, cats, dogs, geese, ducks, and bears.

Today we read:

Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? by Bill Martin, Jr.
Caillou: A Day at the Farm
The Berenstain Bear's Family Reunion by Stan & Jan Berenstain and Mike Berenstain
A Day in the Life of a Farmer by Heather Adamson
Thank You Bear by Greg Foley

A couple of these books are about topics from the last couple weeks, but were on hold at the library. We like to review though and we looked at each page to find brown things and letters F and G.

One of MY favorite brown things.... CHOCOLATE! So we made home-made brownies! Each child helped and loved it, but I'm sure they will love eating them even more!

Outdoors we are continuing our brown investigation by pointing out all the brown things we see: houses, squirrels, cars, vans, leaves, trees, decks, fences, dogs, dirt, and many more. We are also collecting brown things and making a brown nature collage.
